Night Shift…

Bored with nothing to do.

Decade Dance | Alexis & Caleb

alexishedlund:

Alexis watched him turn around and look her. She did notice him taking a good look at her and that didn’t hesitate her at all. Any other girl around here would blush, hesitate, or chicken out and walk away. But she was a Hedlund after all. Years of training herself the basics in hunting prevented her to chicken out of anything, and it also helped that she was comfortable in her own skin.

As s smile spread across her lips when she heard his little nickname. One that he had seemed to have come to a liking for her. Normally she would reply in a snarky remark about being called that. As it felt to her that she was being compared to her sister. But she just lowered her eyelashes into a playful dagger, all the while a smile remained on her face.
“Surprised to see me here?” Alexis moved her arms to cross underneath her chest, “It seems I have been convinced to come here.” Alexis smirked as she rolled her shoulders.
Alexis really didn’t like going to these school dances, it was in her opinion a way for the teenagers to show of to each other at what they are wearing, and who they were with. Alexis preferred a scene like a night club or party that was stationed at a house or even in the woods. They were a lot more fun then a dance held by the school.

“Oh yes can’t you tell.” She wagged her eyebrows in his direction as she added, “You know me, I can’t get enough of this school and their little events they seem to continue having.” Rolling her eyes she pursed her lips as she cocked her head to the side. Her long locks falling to one side as her eyes drifted up towards Caleb’s face.
“Although it seems you are enjoying it as much as I am.” Alexis noted the slight bitterness underlying his playful tone. Sometimes having the training that she has, it can become such a pain. Her father always commented on the fact that she had a knack of reading people’s tones, body language and between the lines of what they were saying. And yet her father continued to disregard her in training her.
It was half the reason she was living with her sister in Mystic Falls.

Alexis raised an eyebrow, as a smirk replaced her smile. As she watched him beckon her to follow him. Opting to not comment on that. Alexis turned around and fell into step with Caleb. Her arm brushing against his as she walked back towards where she came from.
As they reached the table, she watched him pour two cups of the punch. Her lips pursing as he handed one to her.
“Thank you.” Bringing the cup to her mouth, she allowed herself to take to sniffs of the drink before bringing allowing her lips to touch the liquid. Her tongue lashed out and tasted the punch. Only the fruity taste hit her mouth without the lingering taste of Alcohol. Half disappointed Alexis took a large sip as she tilted her head to the side.
“So tell me Caleb, why did you come to the dance? I didn’t think a fire fighter such as yourself would have any inquires here. Unless you are here just in case someone sets this place on fire.”

There was someone at the place that he knew and it was Alexis, not being alone on a place he didn’t want to go was the best for him at the moment. Besides Cameron, Andie and Katherine, Caleb had a big facility  of talking to girls now more than even, and specially younger than him; for the society it was weird and wrong, but he couldn’t see that much of problem since they were just friends, and Alexis, for example, was Cameron’s sister. However, even having that in mind, Caleb had to look around and see if someone was staring at them, saying something or just judging. Thankfully not. “Friends, they always try to force people to go with them to places they don’t want to go all by themselves.” He moves his body to be able to look to the girl.

He had no idea how, but she was able to notice what how he felt about being at the place, maybe he was a terrible liar. “I just got here and I seriously want to get out of here. I might stay for a while and give this thing a change but we never know…” What could he do besides that? Go to The Grill that wouldn’t be full of people, drink, eat or just play something; he could go back to his house and stay on the studio, singing and playing something. There were best things to do than stand at a place full of people and dressing a tuxedo. The drink he took to himself was now meeting his mouth, the entire contents of the cup was taken at once; used to the taste, and to surplus, a drink made no difference to him, he would not sing a song in front of a crowd. “In fact… where are your friends? Hiding from you?” Because that’s how was with me when I was your age. When I was your age. Caleb couldn’t understand how the years could pass so fast, it was like he had not enjoyed all these years, worried about his brother, anxious to help his brother and himself because of the curse they carry with themselves because of a wrong choice.

“Shit… you know my secret. Those dances never give peace to people, but I have never witnessed a dance on fire, not on the literally way at least. I came because most of my day is taken up by work, I needed to get out and as the population of this city really like events like this, I had to surrender. If you can not against them, join them?” The loud music was making almost impossible to talk on that place, and it seemed like couples were everywhere. Caleb was glad Jayden hadn’t seem him there or maybe things would be worst, he would make fun of his older brother being on a dance and Caleb couldn’t say a thing because Meredith would be with Jayden. In fact, what Alexis asked him passed again through his mind. What was he doing there? Why he went? There was nothing for him to do at the dance and he knew he wouldn’t like to be there, his mind wouldn’t change his opinion about it. “So, Alexis…” He tried to say, but again the music wasn’t helping so he get slightly closer to the girl and continue talking. “Actually, I want to go and if no one noticed that I’m here and come talk to me, I can turn around and go elsewhere or stay at home playing guitar and relaxing.” At that moment he felt like he was being rude to the girl. “You wanna go with me?”

Decade Dance | Alexis & Caleb

alexishedlund:

Alexis let the sigh escape her lips once again as her eyes glanced around at the dance. Her nail clad finger tapped against her lips as she looked at her friends moving on the dance floor with their dates or friends. A small smile spread across her lips for a moment as she relished in their happiness. But she wasn’t in the mood. She did not want to come here. She had a bottle of wine, huge plasma and a bunch of cartoons to keep her up all night and to distract her thoughts that have been plaguing her.

Alexis frowned slightly as she remembered why she was even here.  She had told her friends she was going to stay home, but for some reason they had convinced her to come.
Its been long enough.
She thought as she pushed of from the wall that she was stationed on. Her black clutch still in her palm as she turned around to walk towards the door. Alexis eyes caught attention of someone walking in through the door that she was heading too. His body came into view as her eyebrows pulled down in a soft frown as she recognized him, vaguely. Here eyebrows shot up when his name came to mind. Caleb, she had talked to him not to long ago. Moving her body over towards his, her eyes racking over him as a small smile tagged at the corner of her lips.

Caleb stood there awkwardly, glancing around at the school dance. His eyes taking in everything around him and yet he still had too notice her. With that thought in her mind, her smile widened into a grin. Her black heels clicked onto the linemen flooring as the ruffles from her red dress swayed.
”Well look who it is.” Alexis spoke as she was in hearing distance. “The fire-fighter has decided to crash the dance.” A smirk played on her lips as she titled her head to the side. Eye’s flashed with laughter as all her thoughts about her parents phone call and the recent visitor, and old friend slipped from her mind as she stood in front of Caleb.

The most part of the teenager at the town gets excited when school provides something different from them as a dance, which for Caleb there’s nothing so different. Girls spend the week thinking about what to wear, if they will have a date or go with friends and not being able to wait for the day. Boys just wait. Caleb never enjoyed it as much as his friends, there wasn’t fun on preparing clothes that he would never wear again in his life just to spend a random night trying to have fun with whatever kids think it’s fun. He was more interested on getting high with friends in the middle of the woods, away from his house and family and letting a side of him appear; the side that his friends used to like more and that made him became a little bit more social than he was before. Dances just could make him remember about it which also lead him to think about the night he turn into a werewolf. It was easy to know why he was so bitter about those kind of events if any person was his mind. While it’s not possble to happen, they can only try to understand.

Getting out the car, Caleb threw his cigarette on the floor, stepping on top of it and entered at the place with his hands in his pocket and wondering why the heck he was there, as if gravity was pulling him to the party, but her body wanted to come back. He would look like a fool leaving now as he was already there, maybe somehow could have seen him. Even though his eyes were reaching every party of the court, he wasn’t paying that much of attention on who where there and where people where. He was just there, being present and showing his face on a place other than his work - work which he could feel much more comfortable than where he was now -, while regretting and standing close to the door, he could hear someone getting closer and after a while he could see her too.

It was impossible not to take a good look at the girl before saying anything, she was beautiful indeed. Maybe it was a Hedlund thing, like a curse or a bless. “Little Hedlund, who knew you would be here, huh?” The man smirked and passed his hand through his hair nervously. “Enjoying your night? I’m sure you are loving this.” He was trying to avoid all the bitterness he had about the dance and be nice to her, because she didn’t deserve to suffer the consequences of listening to a grumpy man complaining on a night that was supposed to be fun. He really need a drink and after being able to sight the drink table he asked for the girl to follow him by shaking his head. He took one cup for him and one for the girl, making sure it hadn’t alcohol, even though it was hard to find a teenager who didn’t drink, and handed it to her. It was hypocrite of him to do it, but for Caleb was more like: do what I say not what I do.
